Getting Visitors to Your Site

There are a myriad of ways to attract visitors to your site. The better you learn these traffic driving skills, the more successful you will become!

The evolution of internet marketing has provided as many ways to get traffic to your site as you can imagine. Among the more popular ones are:

1. Pay-Per-Click (PPC). One of the easiest (and most expensive) ways of getting traffic to your site is to pay for it. By using the facilities of Google or Yahoo, you can setup keyword targeted ads and pay each time a visitor clicks on your advertisement and comes to your site. Depending on your niche and you keywords, this can be relatively inexpensive or it can be very costly.

2. Purchased Leads. Another way to ensure that you will have a steady stream of targeted leads is to purchase leads directly from a "Lead Source". Several lead generation companies are out there. You can simply define how many leads you will purchase per month and they will deliver them to you, pre-qualified, for a fixed fee. This source may be a little more expensive than others, but getting traffic is the most important criteria, especially to get started!

3. Email solicitation. Nobody likes SPAM! Please do not become a Spammer while trying to get visitors to your site. It will not pay. On the other hand, if you can build a high quality, niche targeted, opt-in email list, this will prove invaluable in generating traffic and interest, both now and ongoing. You can purchase 'safelists' which are email lists of people who have opted in and requested information. Many marketers use nothing but solo emails as their main traffic source.

4. Banner Ads By placing a Banner ad on ezine or newsletter that is popular with travelers or work at homers, many folks will click on your banner to learn more about your company and its products and services. If you can locate an online publication with the right following, these can be a good and relatively inexpensive source of ongoing visitors.

5. Online Classified Ads Just like placing a classified ad in your local newspaper, you can place a classified ad online in any of several ezines, newsletters and sites on line. The most heavily trafficked of these is eBay (www.ebay.com). At these sites, you can place your 25-50 word classified ad to advertise your business relatively inexpensively. There's lots of competition out there, so try to be very creative to make your ad 'Special" In the "Resources and Links" Department is a listing of various sources for classified advertising.

6. Joint Ventures (JV). By working with other, more established webmasters, you can establish a cross selling relationship wherein more established sites will refer their visitors or opt-in list to your site in exchange for ads on your site or some other valuable consideration. This can be a jump start to your marketing activities.

7. Offline Classified Ads Don't discount the old newspaper for a great place for classified ads! These can be very cost effective and productive lead generation vehicles. Usually, it does not pay to advertise once in a local paper, though. Almost every state has a consortium of the papers in their state at which you can place an ad to run statewide for a fixed fee. A list of such agencies can be found in the "Resources and Links" Department.

8. Personal One-to-One Many internet marketers will tell you that some of the most valuable leads they have received resulted form their personal interaction and 'telling your company story' to folks in the community as they go through their normal days. Be sure to have your USP presentation at the tip of your tongue in case you bump into someone who might be interested.

Some people are squeamish about telling their company story to strangers. They feel that they are intruding on the life of an unsuspecting person. Nothing could be further from the truth. You have products and services that can literally change people's life for the better. Surely, you would want to help them out, wouldn't you? Do them a favor and tell them the story. Give them a company brochure to add credibility. You will be surprised at the terrific responses you'll get!

These are but a few of the many ways to get traffic to your company website. Use your imagination and experience to think up even more ways to fill your autoresponder with good prospect names.

Traffic generation and list building go hand in hand. Whenever you attract a visitor to your site by any means, be sure to collect their email address while they are there. They have already expressed an interest in your industry, company products or services or they wouldn't be there, so why not get their address so you can tell them more about what's happening at your store?

The most successful people on the internet have become so largely based on their ability to drive traffic and to build a good, targeted list. If you will become a student of traffic and list-building, your success is practically assured!
